Stallions

We take pride in the fact that our stallions are all broke, gentle, and safe for our children to be around. Nine months of the year our stallions either run together or with the geldings. This is the type of horse mentality we want to raise. As of April 2008 we decided to down size. In doing so we no longer have a clean up stallion and are pasture breeding our other stallions. By doing this we'll have more time to train our young horses.

Woody has been an outstanding horse for us to own. He stands 15.2 hh and weighs 1,250 lbs. We bought him as a three year old from the Lay Ranch in Torrington, WY. He’s a solid head, heel, and calf horse and has been shown in a number of ranch horse competitions around the area. There for a while Woody was the most broke in horse on the place and was used hard for ranch work, starting, and halter breaking colts. Our four-year-old daughter rides him and he takes special care with her. Woody's offspring are the hard working type with big hearts.

Kansas is a beautiful red dun with plenty of bone and mass. He stands 15.1 hh and weighs 1,200 lbs. He's a wonderful horse to have around, he's always reliable, even when he's fresh. We've used him to rope and doctor out in the pasture, haulter break colts, and now he's in training to be a head/heel horse. Kansas has a solid frame and structure. He's very athletic, quick, and cowy. He passes these traits on to his colts. We have started several two year olds by him and they have been gentle and willing to learn.

Chico’s a cowy little devil. He stands 15 hh and weighs 1,100 lbs. Leigh has entered Chico in a few ranch horse competitions around the area, placing in all of them (2006 Nile Ranch Horse Competition - 2nd place in the Junior Horse; 2007 Smith Creek Invitational - 2nd place in the Ladies; 2006 Dally Post Competition at Reno Creek, MT - 1st Place in the junior division). We bought Chico in 2005 to replace the late Du Hickory Lena. We’ll be starting Chico’s first batch of colts in 2008. His personality is one that anybody would like; he loves people and has a big heart when it comes to working. We hope he passes all this on to his offspring.

Chester is probably the most unquie horse on the place, he's not lacking in personality or intelligence. Chester has been a number of things over the years, from a solid head horse to a babysitter and all of it he has done with a 110% of his heart. In 2007 we retired him and he will only breed four of our mares a year. He stands 15.2 hh and weighs 1250 lbs.

The late Du Hickory Lena, aka: Doc, was a special and outstanding stallion for us to own. He was a great sire, that produced colts that all our clients loved, and was a great heal horse as well. Doc was put to rest on December 24, 2004, that was not just a hard day for us, but for the crew at Moxey Schrieber Vet Clinic as well. We have mares by Doc that we're crossing back on our other stallions.
